Fished Friday 3-16 in the afternoon until 7p, as the title says, the wind was a beast, it never let up. The trick of the day was hugging the protected shores trying to beat the wind, in and out of every piece of cover. Caught 13, culled 12. I understand why we cull and I understand the need, but having been taught by my father to catch and release for future generations from the time I started fishing 60 years ago, it hurts my soul to toss a fish up on the bank. All the fish were males closer to the bank, I couldn’t see any beds but that’s where the little guys were hanging out. I marked fish all over the deeper water toward the spillway. The lake is full and covering new areas. I only caught fish on TR watermelon/red flake Yum dingers. I threw lipless cranks, medium divers, spinners, sq bill crank baits nothing triggered a response. The setting is beautiful and I’m thinking about inquiring about the cabin for the next trip.

Hey Ron. I was taught the same thing by my Dad. I never toss a fish on the bank. I clean everything I cull - even the super tiny guys. If I don't need the fish in the freezer, I always can find those who do.
