Slot Fish
Member Mike Svoboda, a good friend of mine from AZ and I fished Yates Place on Saturday, March 17th. It was an overcast day in the morning & partly cloudy in the afternoon. Water temperature was in the high 60's and got up to 71 in the afternoon. Water clarity was low from all the rain they have had plus there was a lot of pollen on the water. We had big numbers, but no really big fish were caught. Between the three of us we caught right at 80 fish, with 35 of them being harvested. The three big fish were 6 1/2, 4 1/2 & 4. What worked for us were wacky rigged weightless Senkos that were red, red w/ black flakes & black w/ blue flakes. The bigger fish came on a jig and a lipless crank bait.
We stayed overnight in the house which is really a great set up. Walk out the back door on to a big deck, then down the stairs to the boat dock, step onto the boat and off you go. Makes a nice set up for coming in at noon for a sandwich and an early dinner before going back out to fish until dark. The place has a great set up for grilling steaks.
We had a great time fishing as well as talking with Dwayne a number of times. This is a venue we always enjoy coming to.
