Slot Fish
Beautiful day and one of the most beautiful places in Texas. Fellow member Darryl Stratton and I met at this property and fished from 6:30 to 8:00 with a break for lunch. The weather was great for fishermen - calm in the morning and evening with a mostly light SE wind during the day. Water temps ranged from 72 to 79, and the clarity is less than I remember (2-3') due to the lack of weeds. Maybe the cold winter killed a lot of the weeds; there are weeds, but nowhere near the amount that i remember last year.
We threw everything we had, and really caught fish on 4 baits: zara spook, yellow magic, watermelon fluke, and watermelon senko. we caught 26 (16 harvested), and our 2 largest were 4.5 and 4.8. Some of the fish were a little on the scrawny side; for example, the 4.5 was just over 22" long. We missed a number of small bass that just couldn't get the bait in their mouth. Still overall a great day on a great property; wish we could get the lodging back.
