It was a warm and windy day. Watermellon green lizards primarily with Red Rat-L-Traps as a second bait where HOT! Fishing points on the North end of the lake seemed the most productive as well as areas near where you launch the boat.

My fishing buddy is just learning to fish soft plastic baits and he looked like a pro after a day on San Saba fishing the lizard. We got bit a lot.

We put probably 50 fish in the boat but only 5 were between 3 to 4 pounds. No monsters this trip.

We visited with the owner. Nice guy…

If you have not been to Waco Creek San Saba - it’s worth the 4 hour drive from Dallas. Check it out but bring plenty of lizards.

PS, my buddy caught two large Crappie on the Red Rat-L-Trap just before you reach the standing trees to the north of the boat launch. We were curious what some jigs might do there… The owner states he has 18 inch Crappie in the lake.  If anyone gets into the Crappie on the lake, comment on the web site please.

Mondo Man out - Good Fishing!
