Bank fished the afternoon of March 7 from noon to 4. Weather was partly cloudy and the wind had whitecaps on the lake. Got 19 to the bank, missed at least that many, and removed 5 right at 14 inches that totaled about 5 lbs. 13 fish measured between 14+ and 18 inches. I managed to hook a 28 incher that weighed 8 lbs on my spring scale. it looked bigger then that and was full of eggs. All fish were caught using Tiki BamBoo 5 inch Wave Worms, blackblueflake, rigged wacky style, It is a shame there was not another fisherman along to share the big fish experience. I am going out today and buying the best weight scale I can find.

John, congratulations on the big fish. I would think that a 28” bass is usually a monster 10+ lb. trophy. Sounds that you had a busy and great day. BJR should be a fun top water lake in a few more months.

A 28” fish with eggs should have weighed at least 11.5 lbs. Even if were on the thin side, which these fish are not, would have gone over 10 lbs.

Congratulations!

My “spring scale” is now in the trash. Any recommendations on a quality digital?

Awesome fish! John, could you share a pic?  I’d love to see what a 28 incher looks like!

No pics and no witnesses but 28 inches was a hard measure. It was not very pretty.

Anyhow, John, you’ll always have the memory.  Very few fisherman catch a 28 inch bass in their lifetime, you’ve accomplished something quite special.  Congratulations!
