Expectations were high. The reality, not so much! Trying to ignore the fact that Thursday would be the first bluebird day after a cold front on Wednesday, my wife and I headed to Martins Mill looking for a full moon rush to the banks by huge spawning bass. Didn't happen. The water is still dingy with less than a foot of visibility, but warmed nicely to about 62 during the day. The wind increased as the day went on, out of the northwest. We kept thinking the bite would heat up as the day warmed but it never did. A couple of subtle bites and one 2-3 lb. fish that Becky lost at the boat and that was it. My recent trip here and several subsequent reports had us primed for a banner day, but apparently something was off. Maybe it was us! Not even the small bass were interested.
