Fished Mewbourne in the afternoon and let me say a couple of things here 1. It was WINDY. WOW, if there is wind, this place is brutal, you are better off fishing from the bank. 2. The “snot” grass it out of control. I was fishing weightless flukes and stick baits and it was almost every cast I was covered with grass, but…....... when you catch one… WOW! These fish are FREAKISH. They literally look like they are about to explode. I caught 7 or 8 fish in about 5 hours of fishing and I bet the smallest was 3 lbs and the largest 5. This is a very unique pond. Definitely not a numbers pond, you really have to work for the bites, but the fish are fat. Nice, unique property.

Jon, that was exactly my feelings.  Bass are not lined up to attack your bait but when you get a hook up, hold on because it will be a good one.

If by snot grass you mean filamentous algae, I wonder if tilapia might be appropriate.  They’d fatten the bass as well as eat the algae…

The snot grass is filamentous algae and I have spoken to the landowner about it. In fact, he called me two weeks ago about the issue. Long story. But the short story is we are treating it chemically and we are adding tilapia. Chemically in a week, tilpaia in the next month.

That will help this pond tremendously. What a great pond!
