Member Bob Lundin and I fertilized both Sulpher Bluff lakes late last week and managed to work in a few hours of fishing. We caught 34 fish in two hours on deer trial; harvesting 27 fish. Most fish were caught on plastics or chatter baits. We then moved to timber lake and picked up 9 fish and Bob caught a fish just shy of 5 lbs on a wacky worm.

These two lakes are like chocolate and vanilla; deer trail is a numbers lake with most fish in the 13-15 inch size. I am confident we would have caught over a 100 fish if we had fished a full day. Great lake to take a beginner or a kid; action is often non-stop. Timber lake has bigger fish and is a harder lake to fish, but you have a better chance of catching a fish over 5 lbs from this lake. We will be adding tilapia for the third year in a row and this year we will also be introducing threadfin shad. I would be very surprised if Timber lake does not produce a fish over 8 lbs this year and one over 10 lbs in 2012.  The lakes are two miles apart; making it very easy to fish one in the morning and the other in the afternoon. Lastly, there is a hole in the wall (to the nth degree) hamburger spot in Sulpher Bluff (the only store in Sulpher Bluff). A great place to stop when moving to the other lake, If you want to get a feel of a real hometown store. This place is worth the experience.  I think the name is Downers.
