Members you did it.

We have achieved our goals, or will this weekend during our club fish fry, in removing the 150 fish needed and Giddings Black Jack Ranch. This is the first property in which we have accomplished our harvesting goals. And you did it in less than 30 days. Thanks to Greg Robinson, Russell Garrett, Kevin Giblin, John Egan, Marshal Hogue, Jerry Edwards, Ed Kasmir, and Bill Fetech; all of whom harvest fish this past month at Black Jack Ranch. Greg, Jerry, and Russell all harvested 25 each.

We have seen a huge response from members who want to make our lakes better by harvesting fish. Almost all private lakes require harvesting each and every year. There is simply not enough food in most private lakes even when you supplement to support the predator fish like bass, catfish, or Crappie. Consequently, we have to harvest fish to meet goals at some of our lakes.

Please do not remove fish from lakes unless instructed to. In some cases it maybe the correct thing to do, but for a myriad of reasons we are not removing fish. Moreover, not all of our lakes are managed to catch a trophy fish. We have many members who want to catch large numbers. Allowing a lake to go unharvested creates an atmosphere to catch lots of small fish, which is appealing to some.
