We fished MK Ranch Saturday AM. The group of 4 was on the water at 7:00 AM and we fished until noon.

The water was a bit dingy due to recent heavy rains in the area. Visibility was about 2 feet.

We caught the majority of our fish in 6-8 feet of water on the east end. There is a large flat with scattered stumps and they seemed to be roaming in this area. Very few fish were caught near the bank - with the water temperature between 52-54 degrees it still seems a bit early for the spawn in this region.

Fish were caught mainly on moving baits. Soft swim baits, rattle traps, and jerk baits boated the majority of fish. A few were mixed in on weightless soft plastics. The grass is prevalent on the eastern half of the lake making anything fished on the bottom difficult. While a challenge, pulling the bait across the top of the submerged grass was the ticket. You just have to really focus on controlling the depth of your presentation.

Out of the 12 bass caught, the biggest was 6.08 pounds caught on a swim bait (pictured below). ALL of the fish were chunky - even the fish under 14" were plump and healthy. The fish population in this lake seems to be doing very well. I think in a few weeks, this lake will really fire off and there could be some big fish caught!
