Ron Dupree and I fished Bennett lake on the 1st and landed 14 bass.  We knew it was going to be breezy but the forecast predicted less wind there than at some other lakes and, hey, we've caught fish in the wind before and we love this lake.  Boat positioning was a challenge but the biggest issue was that we couldn't establish any pattern at all.  We would catch 0 - 2 bass at a location despite trying numerous lures and colors, both moving and "still" baits.  All were caught in the deep end of the lake.  The lake seemed dead with no visible fish activity and only a single duck. We decided that the bass we did catch were the ones that we almost hit on the head with our cast.  So, 14 certainly isn't bad but we usually do much better at this beautiful property.

Recent rains have refilled the lake and the drain is working.  Grass growth is widespread and locally vigorous near the bottom but little to none is visible at the surface. 58 degree water temp.
