Fellow member John Shepard and I fished this beautiful property (patches of yellow wildflowers were on display all over the surrounding banks) under bluebird skies with a shifting sporadic north wind that slowly diminished throughout the afternoon. We each caught 15 LMB using a number of techniques. 25 of the bass were over 14” with most between 16-17”, 2 @ 18” and 2 just over 19”. Most were females that appeared to be preparing for the spawn (nice bellies with slight wear and redness on their tails).

Conditions: Water down about 4ft exposing the boat ramp and old dock superstructure and base of the drain by the dam, water clarity 1.5ft, water temp 72F, local submergent weeds.

We spent the first hour fishing from the north bank until the bite died, then we spent the rest of the afternoon fishing from the 12ft jon boat. Slow action till about 3PM when the bite reignited till sunset. All of the bites were had in the main lake with no action found in either of the feeder creeks. Most of our success occurred within 10ft of the bank, with the most productive lures as follows: senko style baits (watermelon or junebug) rigged neko, wacky (weighted and unweighted) or on a shaky head, structure jigs with a zoom craw trailer (shad, watermelon or junebug),  a few on a chatterbait with a plastic trailer, and a couple, in deeper water, with a crankbait and lipless crankbait.

We had a nice chat with Mr. & Mrs. Stanley just before sunset, and thanked them for allowing PWF to fish this fine property.  On a final note, John managed to land the last fish with a pop-r from the bank just before dark.
