A fantastic day at Lake TCU! I fished on 3/29 along with members Jayson Dunston and Darrell Meeks and one guest. Weather was basically perfect - started out 45, got up to 72 and was sunny with an occasional light breeze. Water temps started 68 and got up to 70.5.

Darrell & I fished from 7:45-2:30 (with a lunch break and trolling motor repair in between). Jayson and his guest fished from 1:30-7:00. Combined total was 87, of which only 7 were culls. And that total doesn’t count probably 10-15 that were lost at the boat. Most were caught near the shore (especially the south & east sides) or around the islands. The largest was 4.80. Several were over 4 lb and most were between 3.0 - 4.0, with a few under 3. They all put up great fights and were very healthy.

As for baits, any type of worm in green, green pumpkin & watermelon were the preference today. Almost all were thrown weightless. We tried other colors but no response. We did catch a few on red Strike King Rage Tail Craws and another 10 on Savage 3D Crawfish (these lures are incredible, and the hardest hits of the day came on this bait). Also had some luck with white/chartreuse chatterbait and caught 5 during evening topwater action with Pop-R.

The lake and property around it were immaculate. The lake has some moss but it was easily worked around. Dub said he was about to stock quite a few grass carp and also add a load of tilapia. For those that prefer bank fishing, this lake is 100% accessible and walkable on all sides.

As many have said in their reviews, we really enjoyed visiting with Dub. From high school & college football talk to business, entrepreneur & family talk, we covered it all. He’s basically a local legend in the area. You'll quickly learn he's very giving, loves to see others enjoy his land and although he's a huge TCU guy, he loves the Aggies too! We also learned that he & his wife for years have traveled to schools and other charitable events during the holidays, entertaining the crowds free-of-charge as Santa & Mrs. Claus. With all his stories, he’d be great to sit with around a fire & have a beer!

What a great addition to the club – we’ll be back!
