Fished San Saba Waco Creek for the second consecutive week and once again had great results! My son and I caught a total of 41 fish. 10 culls and 1 crappie, rest were 3lbs or larger. As expected with this lake, lots of quality fish were caught. We had 15 fish weigh in between 4-6lbs. Almost all fish were caught on soft plastics. The Z Craw produced again in green pumpkin flash color as did a weightless watermelon fluke. The Z Craw seemed to produce bigger bites. Majority of the fish were caught near the bank and typically were caught in bunches. Certain shorelines, points, etc. produced multiple big fish in short periods of time. We had a few bites in the trees mid morning and every fish was large, healthy, and fought hard. Another unique sighting was watching a HUGE grass carp leap out of the water towards the end of the day, had to have been at least 25-30lbs. We experienced a good morning and evening bite with a slow afternoon, but what we have found is that if you fish hard and stick to a pattern you know works, this lake will certainly reward you! What a great opportunity PWF provides to fish a lake like this.
