Wendell Vines and I fished out of separate boats at Black Jack on Thursday 4/16 to maintain social distancing and to get some fresh air. We ended up catching a decent number of fish, but we had to work hard for them. No pattern as the fish were scattered.

Giddings Black Jack has had 3 rounds of aquatic herbicides sprayings over the past 8 weeks. The last one was late March. Likely the yellow algae is the part of the dying from the herbicides. It just means the treatment is working. We also added 60 grass carp. In great hopes we can keep the grass to 5% to 20% of the lake. Fingers crossed we get it right. It is not a science but an art. We want some grass but not too much.
