Fished Tarpley on April 22, 2020 from about 7:30 AM until 3PM with about a ½ break for lunch.  I has a very successful outing as I caught 33, with 21 culls, and the rest were between 2 and 4 pounds.  The day started very overcast with a light drizzle which turned into a heavy downpours around 9 and 10. Luckily, I had my rain suit with me and it kept we very dry.

Other conditions:

Water temp: 71 degrees

Air temp: 68-88 degrees

Water clarity: 6-8 ft

No wind

Sky:  Cloudy until 1PM

Best pattern:

Shallow crank bait thrown on the outside of the grassline along the bank.  Most banks, except for the one to the right of the launch ramp were successful.  Before lunch, I was using a red, black, and chartreuse shallow-diving crank bait; after lunch as the sky cleared that color did not work as effectively and I switched to a brown (tan), chartreuse shallow-diving crank and that was a very effective choice.

I did have some success with senkos (unweighted and weighted) and a frog. There were no hits in water deeper than 8 ft or more than 20 ft from the bank. Baits that did not work:

Popper

Rattle trap

Wacky senko
