We knew we were on the clock.  My friend and I had missed our spring fishing for three years and planned this date weeks ago.  We arrived and found a bluebird day and slick water.  But the geese were flying in, an osprey was competing with us, and we pounded the pads.  Our landing rate was only 1 to 5.  The action was fairly slow, but we fought the pads more than we fought the fish.  They were BURIED in those pads.  That just complicated the game and we caught 17 post-spawn fish.

After the day of fishing, we lodged in the trailer.  We were shocked.  It was better than we expected by far.  What a wonderful surprise after a full day on the water.

Then the floodgates opened.  When you hear the weatherman say "rain is falling at a rate of 6 inches per hour" you know you're in trouble.  And the metal skin of the trailer made for a great amplifier!  WOW.  We cancelled our 2nd day of fishing at another private lake that day, drank more coffee, and finally made our way out the gate.  Only once did we hit a 1 foot deep lake of water on the way out.

We will remember this trip, grateful for a beautiful day and for a trailer that was securely anchored to weather the storm!
