Fished Melody Acres Saturday, Sunday, and Monday morning.  Caught a total of 48 fish with the largest just 2 lbs 13 oz.  First day the feed was on heavy but the second and third (half day) it was slower.  Of the 48, 26 were caught on the first day.  Used a variety of lures including jerk baits, top water (buzz bait and popper type), and rattle trap.  Most were caught with jerk baits.

The real surprise to me was the size of the crappie!  Wow, I have never seen such slabs.  I didn’t really plan on crappie fishing but when I caught one on a LARGE rattle trap, I figured they were pretty big.  I found one spot near a semi-submerged post that was absolutely loaded with them.  I fished with a tiny rattle trap and was literally catching them on almost every cast as long as I could keep the lure within a few feet of the post.  My electronic scale said the largest was 3 lbs 14 oz!  I need to have it checked but they were huge.

My family and I stayed at the cabin for three nights for some R&R.  Wonderful place to stay.  The cabin is extremely comfortable and we got to spend some time with our host and hostess who showed the kids around the farm.  They are very gracious and provided us with fresh farm eggs and home grown fresh hamburger meat.  All excellent.
