Had a great day at Black Hat yesterday. Fished from 12:30 to 7:30, water temp was in the low 80's, lake is full (going over the outflow). No cattle grazing in the pasture by the lake, so water clarity was good (about 2 feet). Caught 32, including about 12 slab crappie. The killer bait yesterday was a blue gill colored lipless crankbait - caught most on that. The crappie were all by the point opposite the dock. Could see a big bait ball on the graph with the crappie shooting up from below; caught around 12 crappie in under an hour, with a few bass thrown in. Most of the crappie were around 1.5 - 2lb. I fish from a kayak, so no space for a big fish cooler…. so I put them back (though did cull 6 small bass). Caught the largest bass throwing a free-lined senko into the reeds along the dam, including one right at 6lb. Usually do well up in the shallows around the islands at Black Hat, but not yesterday - water was noticeably more turbid in the shallows (maybe from catfish rooting about). Also caught a couple in the brush piles on a TX rig worm - no frog bite. Really peaceful and fun day to be outside
