First things first............Phil, myself and the club members want to welcome the Lakota Lake Owner to the club and thank you for bringing your property on board to the Houston Area Members. I am sure members from all over the state of Texas will eventually take time to come fish Lakota Lake with fantastic results.
I know Phil & I we were well pleased with the quality of the fish and the lake as well. Loved fishing the brush piles with the top water bite at times being explosive. This lake has all the bases covered. Anything in the tackle box fished properly should produce. We fished from 7 AM to 6 PM and left fish biting. Had one that would go above 8 pounds that inhaled a bone colored yellow magic.
We ended up with and returned 80 Bass all weighing in around 3 pounds with a few over 4 pounds and one kicker fish. The water was tea stained a bit with 18" visibility. It did get very hot and hydrating often was required. The lake has several fingers that lead back into some great fishing. Love everything about this lake. Best part is that it is 55 miles from Deer Park so about an hour and twenty minutes gets us there. Around the bank is good fishing on the edges, brush piles and the fingers all produced. Water temp started out at 82 degrees but heated up more so as the day went on. Fish started going deeper as the water heated up.
The boat ramp area can accommodate launching a full size boat. The road back to the lake once inside the gate runs about 1.7 miles and is an all weather road. There are a few pot holes from recent rain but all in pretty good shape. Highly recommend Houston area members give this lake a try. Can't say enough about it.
