We arrived later than we had planned so we missed a good part of the early morning bite. We picked up a couple on top waters (pop-R's) and then switched to spinner-baits (chartreuse with gold willow blades) and a lightly weighted purple Carolina rigged 4" centipede that produced strikes while targeting channels next to grass beds, which are in abundance right now. We also threw slug-go's for a while with limited success. We got three or four really aggressive perch (one about 9 inches) on these baits as well as a couple of very nice crappie. The big bass bites were a little hard to come by today in mid-morning but we brought in about 10 black bass. The largest was maybe 2 1/2 lbs and there were a few under 14" (I think about 5). All fish were caught from the boat. Watch for mice when flipping the boat over when preparing to launch the provided Jon boat. Enjoy the scenic drive to the lake and bring lots of cold water during these hot summer months. The creek bed that is crossed on the way to the lake was dry but pretty rocky. Take your time there.
