Tried to fish Beaver yesterday afternoon. First glance at the lake I knew it would be a struggle just trying to get to some fish able water. The coon tail and grass has covered the lake from 75 to 150 ft around the entire lake. There are a few open areas , but the hydrila is solid under the surface. I picked up a few at first with a spinner bait, frog and buzz bait with a frog trailer instead of a skirt. Then it shut down completely. I hung in there , thinking they might turn on towards dusk. This had been the case many other times in the past years. You could see them chasing the dragon flies over the grass, so you know they are in there. Well about 7o'clock I started throwing my spinner bait around some of the the scattered pockets of grass and , boom, a nice 4lb hit, I then picked up 6 or 7 more with the spinner bait. Then they shut down, so I did the same and headed for the house.
