Toad
I fished this property from 6:30 AM until noon.
Conditions:
air temp: 66 at 6:30; 84 at noon
water temp: 78
clarity” clear to 3 ft
wind: calm
sky: mostly overcast
The property is still down about 5 ft and I still do not recommend trying to launch a private boat.
I caught nine with the following sizes:
2: under 12 “
3: 12”-14”
3: 14”-16”
1: 16”
Most were caught (4) on a hula popper (green/white) early off the bank to the left of the paddle boat.
I have tried several top water bates recently (torpedo, buzz, chug bug) at this site and only the hula popper is taken (no short strikes - all solid hits).
I tried shallow to medium cranking (two caught) and also a rattle trap (no takers). No takers on a suspending jerk bait (7-9 ft).
My fish finder indicated there were many fish in the 15-25 ft range. I tried several deep running crank baits and a carolina-rigged lizard, but no takers. I did get two solid strikes and caught both on a heavy (1.5 oz) jigging spoon popping it aggressively off the bottom.
