My daughter and I fished all day with 2 breaks from the heat.  The early morning bite consisted of bass hitting bait on top, however they could only be caught with crank baits.  The rest of the day was relatively slow and the only effective baits were crank baits and worms.  We caught 3 nice bass that were each around 3.5 pounds.  Didn't catch any on poppers, unlike 3 years ago when we caught far more bass (around 50 verses around 20) when there was substantially more mossy areas to fish.
