Fellow member John Shepard and I arrive at this west Houston gem right at dawn in anticipation of a topwater bite. Unfortunately, action was slow and sporadic throughout the morning session. Between us we caught about 18 with the three largest at 16", 16" and 15". Numerous dinks were also landed.

Two landed on a yellow magic popper, a bunch on a wacky senko (using light tackle) and a couple on a beetle spin.

Water clarity about 18" and sporting a slight phytoplankton bloom.

This region could use some rain as the tank is down about 5' (see photo of drain with 7' rod for scale and exposed downed tree in south creek arm). Old boat ramp is completely exposed and the support beams for the old pier are also well exposed.

Had a nice chat with Mr. Stanley as always!

Till next time!

Tropical Storm Laura would really help. Unfortunately, it doesn't look like it will go this far west. We need a 4"-6" rain.
