Toad
I fished this property from 6 AM until noon. When I fished this site about a month ago, a hula popper would not miss. This time all they would do was smack it. The top water bite was not active this time.
Conditions:
Water temp: 82
air temp: 77@ 6AM 88 @ noon
Lake is still low, but not much lower than a month ago.
Water clarity is still about 3 ft.
Sky: partly cloudy
wind: none to begin with, but increased from 10 AM - noon
I had some initial success with a weighted senko (green) fished on the outside grass edge. Caught about 4 (all under 14”). Missed about two on a yellow fluke (unweighted).
Unsuccessful lures:
- drop shot (outside edge)
- paddle tail fished over the grass beds
- fluke (green)
- hard jerk bait
- shaky head
- heavy jig
- jigging spoon
I then tried deep cranks (since that was a successful lure I used last time), but there were not to be found deep (not initially between 9-10). I returned to the deep areas at 11 and caught 2 about 14 inches on a deep diving crank (chrome/blue), but that bite also did not last.
