Banner day (for one of us!) at SW lake Sat, July 23.

Fished with Clint Whitlock - We were on the water from 5:45-11:45.

We couldn’t figure out a pattern, but Clint managed to land three large bass.

The first bass for Clint (pic slight out of focus) was caught on a buzz bait early morning - slighty over 5lb’s.  The other picture is a 5.65 bass caught on a jig and craw combo.  He also got a bigger fish to the boat, but I could not get a hand on it before it came off - it was on a large crankbait, with only one hook in the lip - 6lb+ by the size of the body and head.

We caught another six or so slightly over the harvest limit.  We did keep two harvest fish (both bass, less than 1 lb).

Water is a couple feet low, good color and weeds are what you expect for late July.  Water was 84-86 during the morning.  Boat in good shape, no issues with the motor either.

I tried to get on the crappie bite, but nothing would hit - we were marking a ton of fish near the brush piles - wouldn’t take anything.  Wind was getting tough late morning as well.

Great Day

Sounds like an incredible day. Can the boat be easily launched with only 1 person?

I wouldn’t say “easy” for one person.  I guess it depends on your age/size and how far the previous guests pulled it out of the water - I am sure you can wiggle it into the water and use your truck to pull it up the bank a little when you leave.  Bring a long bar if your are worried, there is enough angle to get it launched - make sure to bring some paddles - you got about 8 ft of weeds to get through before you can get the motor going.
