Fished from 6:45 am - 10 am today.  2 nice fish (5 lb and 6 lb) and 8 small ones (8 - 10 inches).  All fish caught on a Texas-rig plastic worm.  Fish were on the surface until about 9, feeding on small fish, which looked like bass fry…LOTS of fry in the coontail.  Could not get a top-water bite on anythng tried, so went to plastic worms.

A week ago, we released thousands of tilapia from the small brood pond, that sits above the big lake. In late May we placed 10 lbs of tilapia, about 30 fish, to the brood pond. The tilapia, did their thing, making thousands of babies over the last 2 months after being feed pellet food every day. While we do not know an exact amount released, our educated guess is that we added more than a thousand pounds of tilapia to the lake. There are thousands of 2 inch to 4 inch tilapia in the lake. As of this week you can see many of them still close to the release area around the newly created island. Over the past 12 months we have added brush piles, grass carp to reduce the vegetation, tilapia to feed the bass, fertilizer to create the bottom of the food chain and now harvesting to reduce the number of fish; allowing the remainder of the fish to have more to eat. We will be out there this Wednesday to see if we can catch some of those nice 5 and 6 lbers that Leo caught. Reports like this really make my day! Thanks Leo.
