We had a great time at Post Oak, but the fishing was tough, and we had to work for them...It was windy that day, off and on , and also rained on us a bit. Overcast early , but the sun came out later on that day.

The most obvious thing about Post Oak Lake is the submerged grass was heavy and plentiful. Very difficult to get our baits through it without having plenty to clean  off of your rig. Even weedless fishing was not exactly weedless, most of the time, as with flukes or TX rigged senkos. But we did manage to catch some fish. It took us all day, but caught18 bass, but nothing super big, maybe largetst getting to 2 lbs. But the bigger ones fought well, and were a lot of fun. Caught a few from frogs, but the fluke produced the most. And a few were caught using senkos. Also, came up with one bluegill, but no other species other than that.

The Logistics are great here. Easy to get to off of 45, just a couple of turns, and about 18 miles from Buckey’s, if that is the route you use. And you can drive right to the dock where an awsome Pontoon boat awaits. It was great. It was much easier fishing from it than a standard jon boat. Very stable, and plenty of room for two. The wind blew us hard at times, but we managed it without too much difficulty, using anchor when appropriate. Also, the lake was full with water spilling over spillway. But it was fairly shallow on the west end. Much deeper on the spillway side, maybe 8 to 10 feet out towards the middle.

And although it was tough to get the fish the day, we had a great time. It was a very nice ranch with a great view.
