Reservation Number : 28208
Property Name : The Bigwood on the Trinity
Reservation Date : 05/15/2021 All Day -
Total Fish/Sizes : 36 up to 4.2 / 24 harvested
Lures Used : Most effective were: 6'' curly tail t-rig, 4.3'' paddletail, sft jerkbait

Wife and I fished Bigwood on Saturday under clear to partly cloudy skies with a SE breeze from 6 to 11MPH. Lake was full with perfect 24in viz and 70 to 77F. There is significant subsurface vegetation with really none of it on the surface, making the entire lake fishable. We boated 36; including 12 between 2.75 and and 4.2 lbs and harvested 24. Most of the harvests were good sized 14 to 16in. We had the most luck on soft plastics; especially watermelon red gambler curly tail t-rig and pro blue pearl 4.3 keitech on a weighted swimbait head, as well as some harvesters on a weightless sexy shad fluke. Most fish were caught in 3 to 6 FOW on gradual flats near isolated or “different” cover.

The Bigwood is a diverse lake with submerged brush, standing cypress trees, humps, bumps, channels, and points making for an interesting opportunity for PWFers. The ranch boat is huge and stable and is at the ready with trolling motor, charged batteries, landing net, and paddles. We met Doc as we were packing up and he was friendly, welcoming, and helpful! We’d definitely make a return trip.
