My buddy and I fished Pecan Gap and the conditions were a bit tougher than when I fished it last Sunday.  We struggled with numbers but were able to find some good fish. Fished from 6am-6pm (long break for lunch to refuel).

  1. Water was very murky within 20 yards of the shoreline. 75 degree water.  Sunny day, no wind.
  2. Bass wanted smaller presentations and except for the brief period where the wind kicked up, nothing moving.
  3. Smallest fish was 2.5lbs, largest was 6.4lbs – couldn’t get the crappie bite going.  Bass were reluctant to commit – no hard strikes (except a few on a buzzbait, just sort of mouthed it.  We missed several fish, only one break off – ran into the deep weed line and my buddy just didn’t give the fish enough drag.
  4. Owner indicated he added tilapia recently and we did see a few.
  5. Spotted a number of fish off the brushpile in the middle of the lake but they wouldn’t bite what we threw.  Very little on the hump. Felt like they sat in the weeds the whole time.
