What a difference 5 or 6 years makes in a site. The last time I was here was a hot August evening after work.  The grass and weeds were chest high. Now the site has bermuda that has been grazed upon. The tank is low and soft mud around shore. The wind made it impossible to fish from the boat. Dragging the anchor it took only 2 minutes to drift from the south to the north. We only managed to catch 4 Bass in 6 hours. But the Bass are very stout and healthy. Fishing from the dam we watched school after school of shad swim the length of the dam. The shad range from 3 to 6 inches and 300 to 500 per school. The water is off colored and 3 to 4 foot visibility. Couldn’t locate any structure and the anchor dragging never caught anything.  These are healthy fish now we just need some heavy rains to add 5 feet. The best I could find was 8 feet of depth near the dam. There are so many shad in this tank that the Bass are well fed also weeds are not a problem. Note, the Gate was unlocked upon our arrival, we locked it when we left.

Bob,
Thanks for the thorough report. For those of you who do not know “Brisket Bob” you should. Bob is a true ambassador for our club. Bob has been a member for more than a decade and is always one of the first to offer his help. Bob has volunteered his time to fertilize Cleburne Six O Ranch when necessary.  With Bobs help with water fertility and our members help with harvesting we are turning the corner at Six O Ranch. The fish are getting bigger.
Bob also has volunteered to help newer members in the club, by teaching them some of his vast knowledge about bass fishing at no charge. What Bob does not mention is that the trip above is a trip in which Bob took a member who is relatively new to fishing to share some of his fishing techniques and tips. If you have an interest in spending time with a member who may be new to fishing, please call me and we can discuss the opportunity to share with others. It pays nothing financially, but you might just make a new fishing buddy. Moreover, if you would like to spend some time on the water with somebody a bit more knowledgeable, learning how to become a better fisherman, please call me and we will get you set up with one of our ambassadors.
