My son and I had a great day at Button Lake, in spite of the wind. The bass were schooling shad most of the day, providing for plenty of opportunity with reaction baits, and the chatterbait was the clear favorite. As others have mentioned, the lake is relatively shallow, and has lots of millfoil, which makes the chatterbait a perfect choice. We used shad variations with paddletail trailers. My son was also effective with the Redeye Shad, catching at least 10 on it. The largest fish was 5.41lbs, with a couple over 4, several over 3 and the rest mostly in the 1-2lb range. All nice fish. We had fairly constant action all day long.
The owner greeted us on the way out and gave us a couple of bags of shelled pecans. Very nice gentleman and we enjoyed the chat. Definitely plan to return as this is a  great lake to fish if you enjoy open, shallow water fishing.
