Took a first time guest who hadn’t fished in years out to Malouf for some afternoon fishing.  Arrived at noon and off the water by 5pm.  Heavy cloud cover with some fog until mid afternoon when party sunny skies appeared.  Wind relatively calm and water temp hovering around 58 degrees.  The lake is at least a few feet low but wide open with vegetation die back in full effect.  Got on fish almost immediately with reaction baits (shallow running crankbaits) as well as soft plastics.  Fish seemed to relate to dropoffs between 8 – 12 feet and would take bait and run to deeper water.  Little action in the timber but fishing dropoffs proved successful all afternoon.  Better luck on north side of the lake versus the more shallow south side.  

At the end of the day, I think my guest was “hooked”.
