Pam and I fished with fellow member and friend, David Felton from about 8AM to 5PM on Monday. Together we landed 42 bass up to 2.88 lbs with a vast majority of them in the 2+ lb range, with 12 harvested (1 dink and the remainder in the 13-14 in range). The weather was warm and breezy. Lake conditions: 18 in viz, submerged vegetation (much of it still green), 62 deg temp, and approximately 3 ft low. We sure thought that winter fishing should be hard plastics and jigs, but the most productive baits turned out to be soft plastics. We did catch some on a flat-sided crankbait, and one or two on lipless, spinnerbait, and ned. Most fish came out of 1.5 to 6 FOW. The pontoon boat is in the water and usable. There does seem to be a bit of an issue with the pontoons themselves taking in some water so it doesn’t seem to ride at full height. But it works! Overall what a great day to take advantage of the warm weather to squeeze in an unexpected outing before the EOY. Blessed day.
