Took advantage of the warm weather and tried the big lake for the first time. Not much wind, in fact could have used some more – when do you ever say that in TX when fishing except in the dead of summer! Water temp started out at 64 and nearly hit 68 by the middle of the afternoon under mostly sunny skies. Most of the lake still has grass a couple of feet below the surface for a vast majority of the lake. They didn’t hit anything moved over the grass so I concentrated on the open “deeper “ areas. When I say deeper I mean 5 to 8 feet. Caught 9 with 3 around 2 lbs, rest were dinks.  Fish we’re heathly but not very long but did put up a good fight.  No fish we’re caught in the creek area. Paddletail swimbait with an undespin and TX rigged weighless senko did most of the damage. Very pretty setting with the long creek area and property is very well maintained. I’ll be back in early Spring when they are relating to the bank and there is less grass to try my luck again.
