Fellow PWF member John Shepard and I arrived around 8:30 am 2/1/2022 to calm cloudy conditions. This was our first trip to the property so we were anxious to get started. The property boat was nice and comfortable as jon boats go. Plenty of room and power. We rigged our trolling motor on the boat as suggested but was never needed. We set our garmin up to map the contours and check the temps. Depths ranged 4-10 ft over most of the tank (water level looked to be 3-4 ft low based on the waterline around the banks and berms) with some shallower areas being used to train some high end hunting dogs which was cool to watch. Water temp was 51 degrees when we started rising to 56 degree late afternoon so we were not interested in fishing anything shallow early. Started with traps and shallow cranks which produced a few aggressive bites in the 4-5 ft depths (there is some vegatation but nothing overwhelming). As we trolled around the perimeter to create the map and check the contours we threw various lures to see what they wanted. Never really established a solid pattern till after lunch break we started throwing underspins and spinnerbaits around the wood laydowns and stumps then it was game on for a short period. we caught 5 or 6 really nice bass in about a 30 minute window John catching the biggest of the day at 20 ¾ inches. All of the fish were fat and healthy looking and all were light in color almost silver looking i suspect because they are staying in the deeper water around the wood. Once it clouded back up we threw c-rigged craws around the wood and picked up some good fish. We ended the day around 4 pm with 26 total and 1 catfish. Bass ranged in size from 15 to 20 ¾ inches. We culled 2 16 and under.
