Member Wendell Vines and I fished most of the day at BlackJack Ranch in Giddings on Satrday 4/9.

We arrived to light winds and were fishing by 8:00.  The topwater bite was on and we caught some very healthy bass that way till about 10:00.

The wind picked up and we fished all sorts of lures and techniques and didnt find many they didnt like.  The only thing neither of us could catch a bass on was lipless crankbaits.  We caught a lot of chunky hard fighting fish wih only a few dinks.  Many fish over 4 pounds and three over 5.

The water color was perfect and temperature was pleasant for the whole day.  The vegetaion was perfect, little enough so that you could fish most any lure but just enough to give the fish and bait a place to hide.
