Bryan Durrett
Slot Fish
Members Bryan Durrett and Cortney Coe fished am on 3/3. The lake is full and in great shape. Water visability about 4 feet. It appeared there had been fairly recent rains in the area
We caught around 40 - 45 fish largest 4.29 pounds. Most were caught in the timber casting close to shorelines and points. Most of the fish were males on beds I believe. The areas in front of the dam produced very well and some of the larger fish (green 8 inch lizard). Fish the timber areas close to and in front of the dam for sure. (note to Phillip Chapin) A green plastic crawdad worked best, probably about 4 inch size fished Texas rigged.. You will need about two to three bags of those per fisherman. You get a large number of bites.
Next trip I plan to take my own boat. The boats on Timber Lake are a dissapointment. The boat we used leaked at the drain plug and the wooden tramsom where your attach the trolling motor was gone making it difficult to mount the trolling motor securely. I had taken a small 2x4 to assisit in the mounting, but that only worked okay. I got tired of bailing water and was glad I had worn my rubber boots Saturday.
This is primo fishing time in my book. It does not get much better than this! The temps and water conditions are excellent right now.
I can’t wait for our San Saba trip…
Great fishing my friends and let’s hear from you when you return from your fishing trips.
