Athens NE Lake was one of the original lakes in the club 14 years ago, and is often forgotten by our membership. And quite honestly a lake we fail to recommend very often. The A frame cabin sleeps 12 people and has 3 bedrooms. There is a flat rate of $300 for the two nights of lodging regardless of the number of people. The lake is beautiful and full of fish. We shocked healthy fish with most in the 1 to 2 lbs range. However, we did shock a 6.5 lb pig. This fish should have weighed just over 5lbs, but was so full of eggs, she was ready to explode. We found her and 10 of her brothers and sisters in 3 foot of water at the back of the lake. The Athens Fresh Water Hatchery and learning center is only 15 minutes away. This would be a great place to take your family or two or three families for a fun weekend.
