WINDY!!!

We had luck with plastics when the wind would allow us to fish.  Mostly smaller bass, though my buddy had on a good one that broke free.  We harvested 12 bass and 3 crappie.

Lake is full and weeds are growing rapidly.  Emergent weeds now outline the old dam, with many big bluegill cruising and/or spawning in the area.  We weren’t fishing for them, but must have caught 12 or 15 beauties, all released.  If we had fished for them, I think we could have caught three times the number.  Fun, but please release these guys!

Patti, the owner, helped us jury-rig an anchor that actually held the boat even in the worst gusts.  We left it in the john boat for other club members facing windy conditions.

Frank is right. These large Bluegill are the breeders for the upcoming spawn. We need all the bluegill we can get!
