Fished Saturday morning the 24th. Rough drive with the fog, got there just as sun came up. The new entrance is nice, gravel road up to the old road that leads back to the lake. The lake is full with water still going out the overflow pipes. The boat was out in water upside down and had to wade out a few feet to get it up to bank to use it. It leaks real bad but still did the job. Started out with handmade popper and on 3rd cast had a 3# knock it out of water and when it landed he hit it again and got hooked under mouth. Great start to the day. After light got good noticed that the water was like chocolate milk and had lots of debris in it, thought that it would be tough fishing but ended up with 21 fish , all between 2 and 3#. No dinks at all and all fish fought like they were much bigger. Had one fish on handpoured lizard that kept pulling drag and thought was really big but was 2 1/2#, I guess he thought he was bigger. All fish were very light colored but very healthy and fat with small heads. Caught about 6 fish on handmade buzzbait and a few on handmade spinnerbait. The rest came on handpoured lizards. Once I learn to not drop things and knock them over in the boat I might catch more fish. It was a very nice day on the water, no wind early and very little the rest of morning, birds were flying and lots of sun, it doesn’t get any better. This lake will be great once the water settles down and clears some.
