arrived after any potential morning bite had already subsided and sun was high, blue bird skies with a slight breeze throughout most of the day. Started out by working the bank counter clockwise from the Boat Ramp on the far side of the Dam, which launched our 18’ aluminum no problem even with the lower lake levels on our visit. the shallows provided no love for us, with only one fish on a topwater in inches of water, and then everything was out deep.

We found a school midday and quickly got up to about 6-7 fish in the boat however 2lbs was the largest of these schooling bass, on a 1/4oz Tokyo rig with Bandito bug in natural greens, one of them was a Finesse Neko VMC on a spinning setup to get down to 18-22’ quickly which is the depth these fish were in, and the other on a casting setup with the EWG Tokyo.

We saw them on trees about 4-6’ down throughout the day and what got the few decent catches in the boat between 3-4lbs was the cranks, which we lost a couple of by the end of the day from snags on lower submerged branches, but you had to get right up on the cover to get their attention today, mixed clarity, maybe a handful of feet at the most on our visit. we left at 4pm because we wanted to see lake o the pines for the 1st time while we were out east, but we should have stayed to hit the sunset bite on Hat & Star…. No doubt we could have doubled or tripled up on catches if we stayed and maybe even found one of those giants we hear of at this property!

we were instructed by the ranch hand to just go ahead and relocate any fish under 16” to the smaller pond right by the main lake, so we just put them in the live well and dropped them over there on our way out.

Awesome visit, beautiful property, we will be back!!
