I fished the West Lake on Saturday, April 7th.  I caught bass, blue gill, and a couple moster crappie.  I was using fly-fishing gear mostly, but would switch over to an ultra-light spinning rod with 6 lb. test. when the fishing got slow.  Small crank baits caught fish all day long; however, I lost two big bass when the line broke off.  In the late afternoon, I switched over to a heavy duty fly rod with 12 lb. test and caught a 4 lb./20-inch bass on a yellow popper.
