I fished Weston SW Lake on Monday April 9 th from 9 am until 8pm. Conditions were just right for top water action, overcast skies, with fog mixed in and a light ripple going across the lake.

I fished top water from 9:30 until 11:30am. I caught 10 fish during the first hour near the damn with a pop R. The fish wanted everything slow, I used a pop - pop pause rhythm with a 10 sec pause worked best. During the first hour I could not get more than 3 pop – pop pause in before the fish would inhale my bait.

When the sun came out I fished a pumpkin seed color 3/8 oz. jig with rage tail craw trailer around the trees and the brush piles and landed 8 with one breaking me off next to the Willow tree.

My son showed up around 2pm and caught 10 fish using a wasp color Booyah pond magic spinner bait and a blue with chartreuse tail 7” Lizard. We also caught 2 small crappie around the brush pile in the center of the lack.

We caught 30 bass in all with 17 of them between 14“ – 19” in the 2 – 4 lb. range. We harvested 12 bass approximately 15lb and the 2 small crappie which was 1 lb. combined.

All in all it was a great start and a great finish. I will return back to this lake.
