Reservation Number : 34858
Property Name : The Bluffs of Sandy Shores
Reservation Date : 04/26/2023 All Day -
Total Fish/Sizes : 10 - 6 Culls and 4 around under 3 lbs.
Lures Used : Stick worm/Spinnerbait/Yamatanuki/Underspin

6 Culls in the basket on the pier. Nice addition as I don’t have to worry about taking any home. All fish were caught out of grass in shallow water near the banks. Didn’t get any deep water bass.

Stick worm/Spinnerbait/Yamatanuki/Swim Jig with Underspin caught fish. Nothing else worked. It was a hard day of cold and rainy weather. We graphed some fish but not as much as in the past. The cold stormy weather just put a stop on their activity. We caught a few before the 11 AM storm. Broke for lunch and to wait out the rain. We got back on shortly after 2 PM. The weather broke enough to cactch a few more. Then the bite just shut off. We found some here and there in the grass. Couldn’t get them to bite no matter what lure or color we threw at them. Then close to 6 PM, we had lightning strike near the lake and we hauled tail out of there as fast as we could to avoid the incoming wave of the storm system.

Plastics that worked were in Black w/Blue Fleck, Watermelon Red Fleck, and Watermelon w/Chartruese tail tip. Spinners worked in white/shad and chartruese/white. No action on the fluke or chatterbait, which usually work on this property.

We all know that Texas weather can change. Sometimes cold weather is forecast and then it ends up being a nice day. Sometimes rain is predicted and it doesn’t hit your area. So we waited too long hoping that the forecast was going change. The forecast was exact down to the hours and times predicted. We should have rescheduled for this awesome property.

Interesting changes to the lake. The big wall leading up to where the timber trees used to be, is now dug out and there is a 8ft to shallow area now open to fish. The water looks sandy/dirty but we did get bites in that area. That area also has a fish feeder. So don’t skip it. As mentioned in a previous report, the trees/lumber wall is 90% gone. There is a space dug out allowing access to a back area that was previously hard to get to. We didn’t try to get back there as most recent reports had success on the main islands. Which only produced 1 fish on this trip.

This is the only bad trip we have had out of our 3 visits. I chalk it up to the weather as we have had great success on good weather days. This is a great property, just reschedule if there are severe storms in the forecast. Also, have extra batteries. Luckily we had a third as battling the wind wore my two batteries out.
