I will be staying at Parker Branch this weekend and was looking for advice from anyone who has fished this location recently or during the Spring in past years.

Bill,

You are going to like the set up at Parker, great small house and surroundings, lake is very close to back of house and the whole property is very well maintained and secluded. My wife and I went in the Fall during the drought a couple of years ago and really didn’t get to fish much (shopping in Canton was the reason to get her out there) but still caught a few good fish. My wife is very much a city girl but staying at this property has us looking for some property of our own. The lake should be up and when it was down there were lots of stickups out of the water straight behind the house. There are also some over to the left by the pier. The small pond also has some good fish in it. Dinner on the back patio in the evening was really nice. I would suggest you bring your own battery and trolling motor, we never did get the battery that is supplied when we stayed there before. Boat is typical jon boat but that is all that is needed on this lake.

Bill,
My wife and I stayed at Parker about a month ago. Great property and very nice cabin, looks recently remodeled. The lake should be full now, it was maybe a foot low then. Lots of fish shallow at that time on the usual spinnerbaits and topwaters. I think you’ll have a great time.

Dale - thanks for the pointers. My wife and I are looking forward to this trip. Last year we stayed at Martins Mill - another nice place.

Marshall recommended that I bring a trolling motor. Did u use the boat and motor?

Bill,
My family was there last weekend.  in addition to the previous comments about the nice cabin and grounds, the lake is full, battery was not working or not charged but motor was fine,  we caught about 20 small fish on crank baits and worms, my son hooked a big one but lost it before we could see it.

Bill on the way back to Parker cottage you cross over a culvert which is really china Grove’s first pond. Right at the culvert I caught some nice bass at sundown on weedless frog that I followed up on a miss with a watermelon fluke.  They were all two to three pounds at least.  Great folks, you will enjoy your stay.
