Cody Ranch – A Versatile Fishing Destination in Coalgate, Oklahoma

Located in Coalgate, Oklahoma, Cody Ranch spans 3,000 acres and is within an easy drive of several major cities:

  • 2.5 hours north of downtown Dallas
  • 2 hours southeast of Oklahoma City
  • 2 hours and 15 minutes south of Tulsa

For members on the north side of the DFW metroplex, travel time is often under 2 hours.

A Variety of Lakes

Cody Ranch boasts 9 lakes, each approximately 10–18 acres, plus one 50-acre lake and one 6-acre lake. To help plan your trip, the ranch is divided into six reservation options:
  1. Twin Lakes (Opportunity 1) – Two lakes just 100 feet apart on the east side of the ranch.
  2. Hart Lakes (Opportunity 2) – Two lakes near the ranch’s center (Lower Hart and Upper Hart).
  3. Crabgrass & Peach Creek (Opportunity 3) – Two lakes at the north end of the ranch.
  4. Moonshine Lake (Opportunity 4) – A 30-acre lake next to the Cabin in the ranch’s central area.
  5. China Lake (Opportunity 5) – A 25-acre lake in the northeast, built in 2017 and stocked in 2018.
  6. Acker Lake (Opportunity 6) – A 50-acre lake in the southern portion, built in 2018 and stocked in 2019.

Each reservation grants you access to one “opportunity,” meaning you’ll fish the specific lake or lakes within that option.

Lodging Options

  1. The Lodge

    • Five bedrooms with nine beds (eight twins, one king)
    • Two separate living areas
    • Overlooks a small 6-acre lake

  2. The Cabin

    • Located by 30-acre Moonshine Lake
    • Two bedrooms (beds for three), plus two large lofts that can accommodate additional guests (ideal for father-child weekends)
    • A short walk from the lake, complete with a patio and picnic tables
    • Inside: two bathrooms, cable TV (no wireless), a fully appointed kitchen, linens, towels, and a propane grill
    • Heated but no air conditioning
    • Available only if The Lodge is already booked

Hart Lakes Highlight

  • Lower Hart: Featured the largest fish during electroshock surveys; heavily timbered and best suited for experienced anglers.
  • Upper Hart: While not as strong in surveys, photos from members confirm big bass here as well. A Jon boat with bench seating is provided.
  • Roads: Access to Hart Lakes requires an SUV or truck due to unimproved road conditions.

Requirements


  • Your reservation is for these two lakes only. Please do not fish other areas of the property.

  • Report the total number of each species removed via the club office’s online reservation system.

  • If you clean any fish, do not discard remains in the blue dumpster.

  • Fish remains must be disposed of in one of the lakes.

  • A 48-hour notice is required for lodging reservations.

    • Check-in: 3:00 P.M.

    • Check-out: 12:00 P.M. (Noon)

    • Remove all trash before leaving the property.



  • Remove all bass 14 inches and under, as well as all crappie.
