Culpepper Farms Lake

Located just a few miles outside Denison, Texas, about 1 hour north of Plano, Culpepper Farms offers PWF members access to a 14-acre soil conservation lake with a rich family history dating back many generations. This beautiful, scenic lake was built in 1968 and has a maximum depth of 18 feet, making it an ideal location for bass, crappie, and catfish fishing.

Fishing Highlights:

  • Bass Fishing: Over the years, dozens of bass over 10 lbs have been caught here, with the lake record just slightly over 12 lbs. The lake’s unique shape, which includes two small islands, adds more shoreline, making it feel larger than its 14-acre size.
  • Crappie and Catfish: In addition to bass, the lake also features crappie and catfish, both of which are available for harvest. You may keep all crappie and catfish caught during your visit.
  • Species Variety: With a healthy mix of bass, crappie, and catfish, this lake offers diverse fishing opportunities in a peaceful setting.

Lake Access and Rules:

  • Boat Launching: There is a concrete boat ramp that is suitable for launching small boats up to 16 feet. It is advised to back down slowly as there is a slight drop-off at the end of the ramp. Plastic boats, kayaks, or smaller aluminum boats are recommended for easier launching. The family is working to add rock to the back of the ramp to accommodate larger boats in the future.
  • Boats Available: A 12-foot flat bottom aluminum jon boat is available for members to use. However, you must bring your own trolling motor and battery to power the boat.
  • Shoreline Fishing: About 50% of the lake is accessible for bank fishing. You can also fish the entire lake from the boat.
  • Respect for Privacy: The family owns homes on the shallower side of the lake, opposite the dam. For privacy reasons, please do not fish past the fence near the boat ramp. The site map will guide you on areas that are off-limits.

Additional Details:

  • Road Access: The lake is accessible via an all-weather road, though the last 200 feet to the lake may require attention, especially during wet conditions.
  • Fish Management: In keeping with the lake's long history, this is a managed fishery that provides an opportunity for great fishing, with an emphasis on preserving the quality of the bass and other species.

Requirements


  • MANDATORY!!! Remove all bass 14" and under at this site along with all crappie and catfish. Report the total number of each species removed, back to the club office through the online reservation system after your outing.

  • There is a single 12 ft. flat bottom aluminum jon boat for member use. Please bring a trolling motor and battery to power the boat.

  • You may keep all crappie and catfish
