Live Oak Creek Lake is 10 acres and chocked full of bass. This is a numbers lake, with lots of fish in the 2 lb category. This lake is perfect for the angler who wants to catch a bunch of solid fish, not just dinks. The lake has a large channel that runs from the mouth of the creek and runs on the western side of the lake. Bluegill and Red Ear Sunfish have been stocked as forage for the bass. We believe there is no crappie, but the lake does have catfish.

You may launch small boats 14 feet and smaller on the west side of the lake near the pier. There is not a designated boat launch area. So proceed with caution and we recommend that you do not launch any type of fiberglass boat or aluminum boats larger than 14 feet.

Please note that the southern area around the lake is prone to high water. In large rain events, the lake connects with a much larger 50-acre lake that sits 1/2 mile below this lake (we do not have access to the 50-acre lake). Sometimes it connects with a foot or two of water and sometimes just a trickle. If we have had rain greater than a couple of inches we recommend not fishing this lake with a boat larger than 14 feet as you will need to cross the drainage area to get to a better launch area for bigger boats. When the area is dry you may drive across the south end of the lake and launch larger boats at the SE corner of the dam. We launched our 16 foot 3500 lb electrofishing boat here. But, I would not recommend fiberglass boats or aluminum boats larger than 17 feet. Good common sense will prevail here. When in doubt, don't plan to fish out of your larger boat, leave it at home and use the Jon boat provided. Unfortunately, it is not possible for us to know the rather the area is OK to launch your larger boat as each person's vehicle and boat/trailer is different. Again, when in doubt we recommend bringing a small boat or use the Jon boat provided on-site.
